Channel Screen
A perforated basket in the channel retains the screenings, and a screw conveyor carries, dewaters and compacts them at the same time.
The channel screen is a mechanical unit used at the start of the wastewater treatment process to remove solids known as screenings. It is most often installed in open flow channels.
It works by letting the wastewater flow through a perforated basket that retains the larger solids.
The collected screenings are then carried by a screw conveyor, which dewaters and compacts them along the way. This reduces the volume of the waste and the cost of its further handling. The channel screen protects the downstream process equipment, such as pumps and mixers, against damage and failure. The dimensions of the unit and the size of the perforation are selected individually for the wastewater flow and the requirements of the given installation.
The screen runs fully automatically, which keeps its efficiency high and limits the need for permanent supervision by staff.
