Step Screen

A cyclic motion of chain-mounted steps lifts large solids out of the wastewater and feeds them to downstream equipment.

Datasheet

The step screen is used in the mechanical stage of a wastewater treatment plant to remove solids of relatively large size (textiles, foils, municipal waste). It protects the rest of the process line against damage and clogging.

The screen works through a cyclic motion of steps mounted on a chain, which lift solids out of the flowing water and feed them to downstream equipment. Hook spacing and density can be matched to the required degree of screening.

An advantage of the screen is self-cleaning of the filtering elements by a rotating brush.

The screen can be installed in deep and wide channels as well as in pumping and sewage wells with little space for installation.

Features and Equipment
  • Filtering steps mounted on a chain, working in a cyclic motion
  • Hook spacing and density matched to the required degree of screening
  • Rotating brush that self-cleans the filtering elements
  • Screened solids fed to downstream equipment
  • Installation in deep and wide channels
  • Installation in pumping and sewage wells with limited space
