Sludge Hygienisation

Chemical stabilisation of sludge with quicklime: pathogen reduction, lower water content, higher dry matter, odour control.

Data Sheet

Sewage sludge is a persistent challenge for every wastewater treatment plant. For process and sanitary reasons, sludge processing and disposal is often supplemented by hygienisation, carried out by mixing the sludge with quicklime.

This process, also known as chemical sludge stabilisation, involves mixing dewatered sludge with lime. This alters the properties of the sludge particles and achieves far-reaching stabilisation and hygienisation.
