The biological flotation unit consists of a flotation tank fitted with fine-bubble diffusers at the bottom and two scraper systems, one collecting the heavy fractions (settled sludge) and the other the floats (floating fractions and foam).

The precision of the flotation tank and the way bubbles are generated both determine flotation efficiency. The liquid inside the tank must remain in laminar, not turbulent, flow so that the flocs formed during the preceding coagulation stage are not broken apart.

A well-designed and well-built flotation unit separates the light and heavy fractions from the water precisely. Run correctly, the process reduces the wastewater load considerably.

The unit is fully instrumented, which secures the intended process parameters and integration with the control system.
